24k Magic

Why helllllooooo there friends :)

I am writing to you today as a brand new woman...a 24-year-old woman to be exact lol.

This last year has been memorable in a variety of ways and I know people say this every year (whether it be the start of a new year as a whole or the change in age) but I am truly looking forward to what this next year will hold. After all, they do say that nobody likes you when you’re twenty-three...so maybe people will start liking me now that I’m 24k magic lol.

You are welcome for that puntastic song transition hehe :P

I originally had some big plans for the not-as-notorious 24th birthday, but with this pandemic and quarantine still in place - those plans have of course drastically changed. For years, I have wanted to get a tattoo and this year was finally going to be when I did it. Happy Birthday to Me, needle and ink to the skin woooooo! Lol. Unfortunately with everything going on, having a technically open wound does not sound like the most appealing thing haha. Well that, and the fact that my tattoo artist moved to the mid-west until it is safer to come back. It will all happen one day, maybe for the big ole 2-5. Because you know what’s funnier than twenty-four? Hehe, Twenty-five!!

All jokes aside, as much as I love being punny - as most of you know this last year has had its fair shares of both ups and downs. However, no matter what - even in my darkest times, although my smile was a bit forced at certain moments, there were still so many things that I was thankful for. In my last post, I talked about twenty-four lessons that I have learned over the last twenty-four years of my life. And this week I thought it would be fitting to not only set a few goals for this next year but to pay tribute to a legend that we lost earlier in the year as well. Being born in 1996, when he started playing and in the eighth month with turning twenty-four (for those who don’t know, 8 and 24 were his two jersey numbers), I thought it would be perfect to talk about why I will be trying to live my life like Kobe Bryant. Now don’t get me wrong, I know Kobe was no saint, and while I will admit I am honestly not his biggest fan and do have some choice words and opinions on things that have occurred; what I do admit is that I believed he had a very good mindset when it came to challenging oneself and following dreams. And that is what I will be focusing on within this post, as well as this upcoming year of my life; as it is always important to grow.

Granted, I have been living my life according to some of these principles already, but like I have said before there is always room to build and grow, and that Is what I am hoping to continue to do this upcoming year and hopefully, some of you will be inspired as well <3

  1. Have a champion mentality

    1. Commitment. Discipline. Consistency. Faith. And Heart. Five factors that on their own are powerful in themselves, but when put together can create pure magic. If you can dream it, you can do it. People along the way will try to tear you down, but it is your mindset that ultimately will either power you through or drag you under. Show the world just how awesome you are.

  2. Allow yourself to continue to learn

    1. Every day there are numerous opportunities for us to learn something new. Whether we know it or not. We should grasp each opportunity and make the most out of it.

  3. Look at the Big picture

    1. As fun as it is living in the now, which I am a firm believer in (embrace and enjoy each moment as it happens), it is also important to think long term. Especially when it comes to a career path. If you are going to invest something - money, time, etc. Before you do so make sure that this is something you truly want and something that won’t dwindle away after a month or two. Build something you are proud of. Make and leave your mark on this world.

  4. Find and Follow your Passion

    1. Whatever makes you happy, go for it. Chase that feeling. At the end of the day, it is your happiness that matters. Don’t do something just because someone else wants you to. If you are going to be miserable, it’s not worth it. After all, passion is what keeps you up at night and alive during the day.

  5. Ability to Adapt

    1. This could be looked at in two different ways. First off this is an important quality to be able to possess when it comes to a work ethic. Lots of different companies operate based on adaptation. It can go from being quick-paced and frantic one day, to super calm and chill the next. And it is very helpful to be able to go with the flow and do so effortlessly. Secondly, this could also be looked at in a deeper more personal light. It’s ok to change. People do it every day. Heck, look at chameleons, they constantly are changing colors. At the end of the day, if its a change you wish to make then go for it. All that truly matters is your happiness.

  6. Don’t Be Afraid

    1. Society loves to try and place limits on us. They love to try and shape us into who they want to be. They will place false fears in our minds so that we succumb to their perfection ideal. It’s these limits that corrode our ability to not only dream but to chase after our dreams as well. Never say Never. If you want it, go for it. Limits, like fears, are often just an illusion. And ultimately it is up to us if we will make our way around these obstacles or allow them to stop us. Choose the latter <3

  7. Be ambitious

    1. Hard work never stops, and neither should your dreams. Just be mindful when you are going after what you want, as there is a good balance to be found between ambition and contentment. As important as it is to have willpower and determination; it is also important to remember to be grateful. Don’t sacrifice your happiness or someone else’s just to get on top.

  8. Challenge yourself

    1. You want to learn a new language? Go for it. You want to set a new goal? Go for it. You want to try something new that you never thought you would? Go for it. Never stop challenging yourself. There are so many different ways in which you can, and honestly, it doesn’t even have to be some giant show either. The little things count just as much, sometimes even more. Chase the life you want.

Be who you want to be. Turn your dreams into realities and shine the amazing light that I know you all are, on this world <3

Till next time friends.

If you need me I will be drinking white claws and chilling in a kiddie pool of balloons all day lol.

PS. sorry for posting this late, I actually had it ready to go last week just never got around to posting it because I was too busy celebrating hehe sorry

Stay happy. Stay Healthy. Stay Safe.
