Wow-what a whirlwind this last week has been lol.
First off, I apologize for not having an article up last week-but once I tell you the reason why, as some of you have actually probably already guessed from the picture, you will understand.
Yep, that's right. I Tessa Lynn am now once again a dog mom.
The last time I had raised a dog was when I was about the age of ten, and unfortunately, she passed away about a year and a half ago. I took it hard, as I was up in Anaheim at work when it happened, but I know that my dad took it harder than me. Although she was my dog, with my dad's work schedule he was always the one up first - and you know what they say about puppies and the hand that feeds them lol. So when it came time for me to go to college, and even after college when I moved up to Anaheim I decided that it was best to leave her at home with my parents. Not only because they actually had a house so therefor there was more room, she was already so used to that environment-but also because I knew I could not take her away from my dad. She loved him like no other, and I know he loved her just the same.
Flash forward to now, although I do miss her dearly (heck I still think about her every day and my sister even gave me a stuffed animal that looks exactly like her that sits on top of my bed), I felt as if it was time to be able to open my heart to loving and raising another dog and giving them their furever home.
For those that know, for the last few months, my roommates and I have been looking into getting a dog so that Penny (Ash and Manny's doggo) could have a friend. Also with still being in quarantine, it makes it the perfect time as I am able to devote my full time and attention to raising and training one. After weeks of looking, fallouts from breeders, and an influx in adoption rates it was looking to be very hard to find a new furry friend, and I honestly didn’t think it was going to happen for a while. Trying to remain positive was beginning to be a tad bit difficult. We did know the right pup would come along at the right time, and let me tell you she definitely came when we were least expecting it.
Little Phoebe stole our hearts the second we saw her, and she continues to steal it more and more with each passing second. She came home last Tuesday night, had her first vet trip Wednesday, and we chilled at home until her second vet trip which was yesterday when she got her first round of shots . She does have a few little health problems, most of which are typical for pups, but she is such a little fighter. Weighing in currently at 2.8 pounds and being the runt of the litter, she doesn't let her smallness hold her back. She is tiny but mighty. I know it has only been a week but I have already started to see her coming out of her shell more each hour. Especially this last weekend, her personality really began to shine through, she found her voice and she was a lot more playful. She loves her crinkle toys or anything with ribbons or strings, however, she also loves to chew on my fingers, and toes lol. But that's just the teething stage for ya. It’s funny how similar she and Penelope are too lol. Like if we hadn't adopted her from someone she could definitely pass for Penelope's puppy. They have the same coloring and little spottings, they both sit kinda funny (but very cute), and they can both eat like no other. I crack up when I watch pheebs eat, she is so tiny but dang my girl can chow down haha. So far she is loving everything...except baths. She has sensitive skin so her vet recommended a specific shampoo that will help with her skin and her coat and it has to be used three times a week. For those 10 minutes on each of those days, she hardcore despises me. But after she is all dry and warm again it's back to the cuddles. As much as I love the puppy stage, like any other person, I already can't wait until the days where she is trained and is no longer in her pen. Where she can cuddle with me in my bed and we can take her on beach and hiking adventures.
Expect to see a lot of posts about her on my socials and most likely even on here with future funny stories.
And yes if you haven't guessed by now… I did name her phoebe as in phoebe buffay from friends (guilty lol). or Regina phalange if she’s feeling a bit more sassy than normal lol. Ya’ll know I love that show, it's one of my all-time favorites and I love the meaning behind the name and my girl definitely fits the phoebe personality lol. Now if you need me I will either be playing with Phoebe or catching some Z's while she does.
Till Next week my friends.
Stay happy. Stay healthy. Stay Safe.
