The QuaranT Diaries #27: A New Perspective on Valentine’s Day

Oooo Valentine’s Day, the poster child and hallmark staple of romance lol. Or in my book, just another day on the calendar. I personally prefer February 15th, wanna know why? I’ll let ya’ll in on a little secret Incase you didn’t already know (although lets be real you probably do) half off chocolate :P

Some of you may have guessed singles awareness day - and although a very valid response, discounted chocolate still will always remain supreme lol.

I know being single on Valentine’s Day can be a bit of a bummer (been there). As couples all around you are celebrating and posting about what they’re doing or getting from their significant other. And while I don’t necessarily hate Valentine’s Day, I will admit I’m not its biggest fan. This argument could technically be made for every holiday - but its one that is very hallmark card/consumer targeted. Society has it programmed in our minds that if you are in a relationship that on February 14th you have to do something special for your someone special...when (in my opinion at least) that is something that shouldn’t need to be market upon or prospected in such a way. Love is something that should be celebrated everyday of the year, not something that should be played like a pawn just because society says its something that you should take part in. Although who am i to say anything right ? Lol I have been single all almost twenty five years of my life. The closest thing to a relationship that I ever had was my “boyfriend” in the fourth grade lol. Not gonna lie i miss those elementary school days of choosing which valentine card set to give your classmates and which candy to hand out with them (it was a very serious decision). Long gone are those careless days of blues clues cards and tootsie roll pops. You will be missed but never forgotten.

It’s time to normalize being single on Valentine’s Day and loving yourself.

And for those like me who are single flamingles and looking for a way to spend this day while your friends who are in relationships are most likely spending it together, I have a few ideas for ya, or rather just one really large one.

Do whatever the hell makes ya happy!

This is something that I hope you are able to do everyday, but i know that isn’t always the case. Life can get busy and in the way sometimes - and if that has happened, I challenge you to take this day - or any day you can really to treat yourself. Take the whole day and do stuff that either you want to do or that you love.

Wanna binge watch the marvel cinematic universe in timeline order? (I may or may not be doing this right now hehe) Do it!

Wanna have a spa day and focus on pampering yourself with amazing relaxation techniques (hello face masks and bubble baths) Go for it! <— I high key recommend this one lol , i try to do this weekly.

Want to cook yourself a giant ass bowl of four cheese pasta and pop open a nice bottle of wine. Or any food and drink really. (And dont forget that pizookie for after too) Hell to the yes, do it!

Do you love the idea of Valentine’s Day and want to get yourself flowers, a heart shaped balloon, and teddy bear (I am a fan of treating myself to flowers at least once a month) Do it! OR if you are completely against the holiday and want to throw a little anti-valentines day celebration and hit a heart shaped piñata (one of the best ways to get anger and hurt out as you are typically rewarded with candy after). Go for it!

Self love is the best love and in my opinion that is the best gift that anybody could give themselves this Valentines Day. Whether in a relationship or not.

Love yourself and all that you do. Each day and every day in any way that you can <3

Till next week my friends

Stay happy, stay healthy, and stay safe.

-T

If you need me this weekend I will most likely be watching more marvel movies while stuffing my facemasked face with pasta and wine lol
