Welp, friends it finally happened. I fell down the wormhole. After a decade I can finally say that I Tessa Zalfen have finally watched Captain America. And not only did I salute to America’s Ass, but I took a trip through the Bifrost and visited Asgard as well with a few pitstops in Sokovia and Wakanda along the way.
I know I know, many people's hearts broke when they first heard the news of me having not seen a wide variety of marvel films (and I probably just broke a few more 😅), but ya know hey - we all make mistakes. Some just more than most (hahaha yes I am referring to myself lol). It all started a few weeks ago when Ashlee’s sister and one of my closest friends, Aleesa was over at our apartment, and Ash and she had just started Captain America: the first avenger. I mentioned how I hadn’t seen it... and BOOM I was hooked and the rest was history. It was after watching all the CA’s that we then decided to go back and start it all over from the beginning of the marvel chronological timeline. In under the span of a week, Ashlee and I had finished, and boy oh boy was I shook. EVERYTHING just made sooooo much more sense. It all clicked together like puzzle pieces and I was left utterly mind blown. Not only at the fact that every little thing (and I legit mean everything) is tied together, but at the fact that I just never noticed certain instances before when I had seen other films. Like Natasha Romanoff (aka Black Widow) being introduced in Iron Man 2?? Definitely don’t remember that one lol. I finally understood avengers a lot more after seeing Age of Ultron (I somehow just skipped over that one.. shame shame I know 😭). I had always been more of a Star Wars girl (and frankly still am) but I now totally get the hype of the marvel cinematic universe and why time and time again they continue to leave people breathless whether it be through screaming out cheers or sobbing our eyes out (hi yes endgame and Wanda vision I’m talking about you).
I thought about trying to rank the movies in order of my favorite to least favorite.. but I honestly don’t think I can 🤣 They’re all good in their own ways. I mean, of course, there are ones that I didn’t enjoy as much as others - but To rank all 23 (so far) is just a task I can not partake in as it is not fair to the films hahaha. So instead I will just name my top 5.
Iron Man: not only was he technically the first movie of the MCU, but I mean come on RDJ embodies the character of Tony Stark so freaking well. And not only will Iron Man forever be my favorite Marvel Superhero, but I also think that the film itself holds the spot of #1. After all, it is what started it all.
Endgame: I believe this one speaks for itself. Teamwork makes the dream work.. although this was a Lil bit more of a nightmare based on everything they had to go through.. but ya know lol. Tissues are needed every damn time. (Bro Thor is also a major mood)
Black Panther: WOW just wow. This watch-through was my first time seeing this film as well (I’m a failure I knowwww). But Chadwick Boseman (may he rest in peace <3) absolutely shined in this film (as he does in every role). Something extraordinary was created with Black Panther, and it has quickly become one of my absolute favorite movies in general.
Captain America Civil War: an avengers movie but technically not an avengers movie ?? Sold lol. Ps. team Iron Man (gotta stand by my king). Also vision. That’s it. That’s the tweet.
Guardians of the Galaxy/Spider-Man Homecoming/Thor Ragnorak: these are my type of films. Comedy and great soundtracks? I see Phoebe and myself in Rocket and Groot (who do you think is who lol). The relationship between Tony and Peter Parker ughhh my heart. And Thor...well that man is just a god simply put..literally. Also Loki and Korg lol.
Now again don’t get me wrong, each Film is marvel...ous in its own way (hehe see what I did there) but these - at least at the time (things could change) are my top 5...or like 7?? whoops.
See this is what I mean 🤣 I just simply can’t rank all the movies in order because they’re all just so dang good hahaha. I’m already going back in forth between which movie will hold the fifth spot of my top five hahaha. Welcome to my indecisive brain.
And the fact that now not only are we still getting amazing marvel movie content but also shows as well (shout out to Disney plus). I mean, a new piece of complete and utter art each week? I am 100% sold. Wanda-Vision has managed to blow me away each Thursday night (yes I watch it right as it drops to avoid seeing spoilers lol) and I already know that Falcon + The Winter Soldier, as well as Loki, will do the exact same.
Speaking of...... if you need me I got a date with the WandaVision finale.
I am so ready but not at the same time.
Wish me luck *pops popcorn and grabs tissue box while burying myself in a burrito blanket*
Till next week friends.
Stay happy, stay healthy, stay safe.
T <3
PS. If a man is male
And a woman is fe-male
And the elemental sign for Iron is 'Fe'
Wouldn't that make women....
*Cue Highway to Hell*
;)
also throwback to Comic-Con 2019 with the cover image, and getting a gnarly-ass sunburn while waiting in line for the IMDb Boat lol (if you know you know)
