The Quarantine Diaries #9: Things I Can't Live Without

Updated: Jun 18, 2020

Hello Everyone! I hope this last week has treated you all well.

For those that read my post from last week, I know it was quite different from what I have normally written. However, it's a topic that I am very passionate about, and I want to be a part of the change. One that is already beginning to take effect. Most of you may come here for lighthearted, funny, or moving posts about my life; and as much as I do love being vulnerable and getting to share those details with you..there are also things going on outside of my own personal life that are much more important.

Over the course of this last week, I have taken the time to step back and educate myself, as well as to take a break from everything. For the first time in months, I was able to go home and see my family for the weekend. I took time away from social media and gave myself a much-needed detox away from it all. I’m back now, rejuvenated, and ready to tackle whatever life may throw my way.

This week, I thought I would share 15 things in my life that I for one would not be able to survive without (ok that's a tad bit dramatic lol, of course, I could, but for the sake of this post we will just say I couldn't lol ). I know what some of you may be thinking, this is gonna be one of those basic predictable 15 things. But buckle up, it's not all makeup and clothes as you may think (in fact no makeup or clothes even make the list lol).

We all have those items that we simply can not live without. They are things we consider favorites and they are so deeply ingrained into our daily lives, that we most likely wouldn't be able to properly function without them. Our days would just seem off, like a puzzle missing the last piece. I for one could probably make a list a mile long (I am just an incredibly indecisive person. Hiiiii how ya doing lol), but after some thought and deliberation, I have managed to come up with my top 15. I think I deserve an award for this in all honesty. I’m just as surprised as you are that I did it.

Without further ado, here are the top fifteen items that I can’t live without (in no particular order)

  1. My phone: Ok...yes this one is basic, typical, and predictable lol buuuuuuuut phones are very versatile. Not only does it allow for us to keep in easy contact with friends and family that are on the other side of the country (or even the world), but they also allow easy access to pretty much anything and everything at the tip of our fingers (hello Buzzfeed quizzes, and maps because I can get lost easily lol).

  2. My Water bottle: If you were to ask me what my wisest buying decision was, I would most likely tell you my Hydro Flask. Coldwater all day, and it's reusable (win-win)!! That bottle has become one of my best friends over the last few years (except for the one time I decided to put beer in it and it exploded on me...but we won't talk about that lol).

  3. Fresh Flowers: I would honestly be shocked if everyone at my local trader joes didn't know my name already, because of how often I am there buying flowers for our kitchen table. Like Julie Andrews says in 'My Favorite Things', there's just something about raindrops on roses, that automatically brings a smile to my face

  4. My Bible: My faith is hugely important to me. Without my faith, I definitely would not be where I am or who I am today. This year, I am actually reading the whole entire bible. This is something that I have never done, start to finish, and let me tell you something; it is extremely eye-opening. And for everyone else who has faith, especially that of Christianity, as a big factor in their lives as well, I highly suggest reading the whole bible beginning to end in a year if you haven't already.

  5. My friends/family: For those who know me, you know that without a shadow of a doubt, my friends and family are the most important thing to me. From memories, laughter, too stupid times together, and everything between. In a heartbeat, I would choose them over any worldly possession.

  6. My car: if LA/OC had a subway system like new york I would say to hell with my car lol, but since we don't my car has become extremely useful. Especially when it comes to driving back down to San Diego to see my family; and getting to and from work. I know there are other ways in which I could do so (ie. public transportation), but having my own car has made everything 10x easier.

  7. The Beach: The beach is my happy place (other than Disney). Being born and raised in San Diego, I was always close to multiple beaches; and when I went to AZ for college it definitely was a shock not being close anymore, and it made me appreciate the fact that I grew up by them, a lot more. Now being back in California, I go to the beach as often as I can. I know a lot of people hate the beach. I, however, am the exact opposite. I absolutely love the sand beneath my toes, the smell of the salt in the air, and the sound of the waves crashing. *drives to the beach right now* It is a place that helps to instantly calm my nerves, stress, anxiety, whatever it may be. When I am there at the sea I feel at ease (hehe that rhymed).

  8. Puppies: this one honestly speaks for itself. If dogs were not in my life, I don't know what I would do, I really don't lol. I have always grown up with a dog in the house, and they honestly become and are family. For those who have had, or even simply loves dogs as well y’all get exactly what I’m talking about. There really isn’t a way to describe it. After all, as the saying goes a dog is a (wo)man's best friend.

  9. Music: As some of you may know based on one of my past posts, I collect vinyl. Music is something that if it ceased to exist all of our lives would be vastly different. It is anywhere and everywhere. If music wasn't around, life as we know it would frankly just be completely and utterly dull. It’s something that brings people together, speaks to individuals on deeper levels, and overall just creates a very welcoming atmosphere for all.

  10. Love: I am all about love, kindness, and positivity. I just want what is best for everyone, especially those that I care about. When people hear the word soulmate, they tend to think of the person they’ll spend forever with romance wise, however, soulmates don't have to be people you are romantically involved with. Sometimes soulmates are literally your best friend. I have met people that I have grown closer to in two months than I am with those who I have known for ten years. God places people in your lives for a reason. Embrace every second, and allow yourself to love. Not only to love others but to love yourself too. Self-love is just as important, if not more because once you love yourself your heart is opened to a world of endless possibilities.

  11. My Camera: I don't talk about it much, but photography (other than writing) is a huge passion of mine. Since I was old enough to know how to properly operate and hold a camera, I have been clicking away. I am a sucker for catching moments in time and allowing people to hold onto the memories of some of their favorite days. They say a picture speaks 1000 words, and I stand behind that quote a thousand and ten percent. So much can be told in what otherwise looks like a simple frame.

  12. Scrunchies: 50% of the time if you see me, chances are that my hair is most likely up. High ponies and messy top buns are my forte, what can I say (hehe another rhyme). Like many others Instead of using the normal black hair ties, I have embraced the resurrection of the scrunchies-full force and no shame lol.

  13. Blue Light Glasses: I used to get tension headaches all the time, especially due to the fact that with my work and personal life I am constantly staring at a screen, until I discovered these glasses, and let me tell ya something..LIFE CHANGER. Ever since purchasing a pair of these (multiple if I'm accurate lol) my headaches have for the most part halted and I rarely experience them anymore, which is freaking amazeballs.

  14. Apple Watch: Two words - exercise rings. That is all lol.

  15. My Butterfly Necklace: I got this not too long after my grandmother passed away. I was super close to her, and one of her favorite things in the whole world was butterflies. After her passing, I got this necklace, and whether I'm wearing it or even just carrying the pendant with me; it feels as if she is right there by my side.

Welp, there ya have it friends; 15 things that I can't live without. Ironically originally this was going to be 10 buttttttt hello I am indecisive, and you are? Lol. I know some of you may be shocked that Disney did not make the list (whoops lol) but as much as I love Disney and would want to put it on there, so many of you already know that Disney is a huge aspect of my life and that it is something that I love dearly, so I wanted to bring to light some other parts of my life, and show those aspects (whether big or small) as well.

This list will definitely change down the line..I mean let's be honest it could even probably change tomorrow. But in the meantime, this is where we are at today haha.

Love you all. Stay safe and happy.
