Why hello there.
I know you have all been biting your nails the last seven days...now three weeks as I am posting this (i deeply apologize, life got pretty crazy - which I will touch on in future posts) waiting to see what I have to talk about. For those who follow me on Twitter and Instagram (insert shameless plug here - if ya don't, what are ya waiting for lol) you may have seen my cryptic posts from the other week (*insert eye emoji) and may already know what super top secret info I am about to expose. Or maybe you don't lol but that is all about to change.
There’s this little thing known as the avengers initiative. Ya’ll heard of it?
Well, 23 films (as of right now) and a few Disney plus series later we are now able to experience what it is like to be an avenger in real life. Yep, you read that right. This past month Avengers Campus opened at Disneyland and it's every bit of awesomeness as you may think (yes I know that's not proper English but we're just gonna move past it ok). Within the week of it being open, I know that it has already had its fair share of people trying to knock it down, but when i got to visit it a few weeks ago, I was blown away. Just like with Galaxy’s Edge, it feels as if you are a part of the story and the marvel cinematic universe. While the characters have been around in the parks for years, it is on a whole new level now. Heck, Loki just premiered at the start of opening and in the blink of an eye, Loki went from his Asgardian cloak to his TVA getup in the parks overnight. Everywhere you look there is a detail, whether big or small that catches your eye - I mean the hulk tree with gamma radiation, the Peggy Carter and Howard stark parking signs - the list goes on. The Imagineers truly left no stone unturned and left us many easter eggs to find. And being able to be a part of some of the first guests to experience the campus, was something that I’ll never forget. In fact, let's talk about that a little bit more shall we.
First things first (I'm the realest - sorry not sorry, I had to, and don't lie to me I know you were singing along) and always the most important...food lol. I would be lying if I said that the first thing I did when my family and I got in was anything else other than eating. Granted at this point we were starving as we wanted to wait till we got into the land so we could try all the goods, but still lol. Working galaxies edge and being a lover of ronto wraps, I didn't think that I would ever find something that could compete with it...but boy was I wrong. Just like how Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) and Bucky (the Winter Soldier) hold equal parts of my heart, so does the ronto wrap and now the shawarma. And no your eyes do not deceive you, like the god of mischief Loki is so fond of doing. If you ever dreamed of being able to try an avengers shawarma, all your wishes are about to come true. What we once saw in the movies is now a reality in front of our very own eyes and ready for your taste buds to try (I may or may not have even taken one home for dinner afterward lol).
Next up was Pyms Test Kitchen and Pym’s Tasting Lab (my personal favorite outside the shawarma). While I wanted to try everything, we did limit ourselves - and decided to go with the Pym-ini and the choco smash candy bar for our particle cuisine. The nini did not disappoint, and let me tell you when I say fly. Not walk or run to the campus to get yourself a choco smash - I mean it. Imagine if 3 musketeers, Twix, and Snickers had a baby. One word, heavenly.
Speaking of heavenly. Drinks. Y'all know how much I enjoy a good alcoholic beverage. And they come in a little beaker to take home (I may or may not use this for my drinks now). Being a fan of seltzers I decided to try the Particle Fizz. While it was refreshing and something that made me want to chill out by the pool with a beaker in my hand while chilling with Iron Man; it was the cherry boba pearls that really made it. On top of that, to share, we got a honey buzz. I am normally not a huge gin drinker, but this drink won me over. With gin, lemon juice, and honey syrup it was a flavorful explosion. It was like one giant summer honey straw full of nostalgia and happiness. We were barely even scratching the surface with what we tried - and I already can't wait to go back and experience more (breakfast I'm looking at you).
Now let's talk about the attraction. At the moment avengers campus is home to only one (that could change in the future - as Disneyland is never complete), and in my opinion, it did not disappoint. Honestly, going into it I had no idea what to expect and I think that's what made it even better as I did not build up any expectations in my mind. The preshow is full of laughs and tons of more Lil easter eggs (keep your eyes peeled). And the attraction itself… well let's just hope you still aren't hurting from arm day at the gym because this one is a workout. By the end, I was out of breath and sweating because I went all in. I mean who wouldn't want to swing webs with THE spiderman. I don't wanna spoil too much as I love getting to hear about people's first blind reactions but just be prepared to burn a few calories.
Last but not least...a girl's best friend .. shopping.
After this day, RIP to my bank account because I think the more accurate question would be ‘what didn't I buy'. LOL I told myself I was going to get one thing. Before we even got to all the campus merch I had already bought a few different park merchandise items (but the porg is adorable and was totally worth every penny). It was once we got to Stage 17, where the MCU and AC items were being held when the real damage began. To add to my Lil pop-funko collection I have growing, we now have the one and only Iron Man (WEB edition) and Winter Soldier aka Bucky Barnes. For those who know me, you may know that one of my favorite new Lil hobbies is collecting Disney wishables - and of course, on my marvel-ous day, I had to get some marvel ones. So what better than the guardians of the galaxy packs that were recently released. If you don't know what wishables are, they're blind bags and each one contains typically a 1 of 4 plush and they always sell the 5th one out of the bag. I like to call phoebe my little rocket as she is mischievous and a cunning escape artist so of course I had to get the rocket one, which just so happened to be the out-of-bag option. Which only meant one thing, I had a 1 in 4 chance of getting baby Groot to go with and I was a woman on a galactic mission. After feeling handful after handful of bags I decided to go with one that felt like it might be Groot - and BOOM mission successful - the dynamic duo was ready to go. My last two ‘bigger’ purchases were an Avengers logo LE pin - as well as an Iron Man pin- (as I am a huge Disney pin collector - I am on my third giant corkboard as we speak lol) and a Stark Industries Intern pullover (helllllla comfy by the way). There were so many other items that I was eying (shot glasses you know I'm talking about you), but I decided to limit…..myself (yeah I know I'm cracking myself up to as was that even a limit? Lol. Maybe I should take a page from mean girls on this one and just say that the limit does not exist.
Overall it was lo-ki (see what I did there hehe) an incredible day and I am extremely blessed to have been able to get the experience to be a part of it all beforehand, and especially with my family. And to now share my experience with you all as well. I cant wait to hear all about yours when you get to visit the campus!
Here is to making new memories. And cherishing old ones.
Till next time friends. Stay Happy, Stay healthy, stay safe.
