year in review

Another year has come and gone. Just like that. The fast-forward button was hit and in the blink of an eye, it passed by.

I look back on it and am torn between two different pains. The kind that causes the slow tears to run down your face and the kind that stretches your smile a mile long.

so let's take a little trip down memory lane shall we, and revisit the highlights (both best and worst) of each month.

January

  • I rang in 2022 with two of my best friends (and six hours later went to work lol yay double pay).

  • I brought back here's the T after an almost five-month hiatus

  • Hit my four-year mark with the mouse

  • My self-love and confidence were on their way back up

  • Got back into reading

  • Met a great guy and thought it was going somewhere (lol)

February

  • Self-love continued to be on the rise

  • Got creative with some fun photo shoots and fell in love with photography again after too long of time away from it

  • Lots of girls' nights

  • The joke was on me with the guy haha

March

  • Grew with my love for photography

  • Gained a new great friend

  • Helped my best friends move out of the apartment… it's fine..I'm fine

April

  • Adjusted to not seeing my best friends every day (it was very hard, pheebs and I were struggling)

  • Concerts began again

  • Grew friendships

  • Lots of beach days with pheebs at our happy place to help keep our minds off of things

  • Stagecoach - family girls' trip for good times, good music, and good drinks

May

  • Family time

  • Got a new haircut and a new tattoo because self-care

  • Harry's house album (need I say more)

  • Star wars convention (multiple years in the making), I was in nerd heaven. Got to walk a red carpet and did it proudly in crocs

June

  • I moved out of the apartment and back in with my best friends

  • A lot of this month was focused on packing and working, to be honest lol

July

  • Got to set up my new room. Decorating always brings me joy

  • Lots of pool time

  • Quarantine -> covid round 2

  • Got back into reading again after a busy work schedule and thanks to quarantine got through a good-to-read list

  • Comic-Con, nerd heaven round two. This is something that I have volunteered at for almost ten years now, and look forward to it each time around

  • Family gatherings

  • I purchased my first designer purse, pretty big milestone for me

  • Lost some friendships with people I once thought I never would

August

  • Discovered my love for pastel yellow

  • My baby girl Pheebs turned two

  • Ashlee and I got tattoos together to ring in our birthdays

  • I wasn't aware of it, but one of my closest friends at the time and I were beginning to drift apart

September

  • Manny underwent open heart surgery (and turned the good ol' dirty 30).

It's incredibly difficult to see one of your best friends going through something like that - and I know it was even harder on him...not just physically, but emotionally and mentally as well. I can't even begin to imagine. He bounced back like a champ and I know I don't tell him enough but I am so incredibly thankful for him. Relentless teasing and all.

  • Found myself mixed in with the wrong people for a bit and was showed who I can and can't trust. discovering others' true colors and intentions

  • Took a trip home for much-needed space, a getaway, and time with my family

  • Was reminded that time has nothing to do with the quality of a friendship and someone you've known for a month can treat you better than someone you've known for a year

October

  • Allllllllllll the concerts

  • A month filled with so many amazing memories with Tay

  • After over three years of waiting due to multiple post ponings, ten-year-old emo tessa with her lilac cd player decked out in Lisa frank stickers while three cheers for sweet revenge played, got to see My Chemical Romance live

  • Got my first ticket LOL

  • What happens in vegas stays in vegas

  • Saw Harry Styles…a few times hehe

November

  • Saw harry styles…again (I'm not sorry about it)

    • This was Ashlee’s first time seeing him and AH! Loved getting to experience that with her

  • Read quite a few more books

  • Fought ticketmaster for taylor swift tickets

  • Added quite a bit to my forever-growing vinyl collection

  • Two words... Christmas time! I am the type of person who once November 1st hits I consider it to be Christmas and I will make no apologies for being this way. I am legit the female version of buddy the elf

  • Vegas round two for tays quarter life crisis

December

  • After years of waiting, finally got to purchase the lightsaber I've always wanted hehe

    • Tessa lynn, Qui Gon Jinn ;)

  • Did my first 5k in a while, at 5 am….very cold but very fun. There's just something about Disney at dawn that hits different

  • Got the honor of going to club 33 with my best friends. SO worth the dent in my bank account

  • Christmas!! Was able to spend the actual holiday with my family, whereas the last few years our celebration was after, and am extremely blessed and thankful for it.

  • Rang in the new year with some of my favorite people

And now here we are.

2023…. Although we are technically three months in now.

can time slow down for a little bit, please?

While last year had its fair share of not-so-great moments - all in all It was an absolutely fantastic year and I wouldn't trade any part of it. Each second, instance and memory brought me to where I am currently - they're helping me continue to grow and providing me with lessons throughout this crazy little thing we call life.

I’ve already experienced some pretty amazing moments so far this year, and I'm excited to see what else is in store.

Til next time.
